Disney Store Figures - a few more

Some folks seem to be confused and think these are Big Figures like are for sale in the theme parks.  These are similar to those in size but were manufactured as display pieces to be used in windows and elsewhere in the Disney Stores and have never been produced for resale.  Clear?

Disney Store Figures Revisited

Looking n ebay I came across all of these great shots of old Disney Store figures.  If I had the money, my house would be filled with these things.  The closest we've got in our house is the set of Snow White garden statues I bought for my mom.

Disney Store update

Juan Ortiz gives us the first peek at the very first Enchanted snowglobe as well as a new Lion King and Fairies snowglobe coming soon to the Disney Stores. Stop by and tell him what you think.

Click This Link!!!

Someone left a comment yesterday pointing me to another blog called The Disney Store Shelves. If you like my blog, then you are going to love this one. It is run by Juan Ortiz, one of the fine talented people designing items for The Disney Stores, including snowglobes. Juan talks about past.current and future items at the Stores as well as discussing the design process and showing off lots of original artwork from himself and his fellow creators. It's a must read blog for any and every Disney collector. Juan is currently showing pics of some upcoming globes including Oliver & Company, 101 Dalmations and Fantasia.

Shopping at the Disney Store

I made my first trip to the Disney Store as owned and operated by Children's Place today. That may sound strange, since as you know I am a collector of all things Disney but you have to understand that with me living close to Walt Disney World there just isn't much reason to make the trip to a Disney Store. Most of the "Disney Stores" that are closer are owned and operated by the theme parks and don't carry the Disney Store merchandise. The closest Disney Store owned and operated by Children's Place is in the FLorida Mall up on Orange Blossom Trail. I went expecting to see a multitude of snowglobes and prepared to buy many so I can document them for the book and then sell them on ebay (can't keep everything, not enough room or money). What I found was about 4 or 5 globes all of which I allready have documented because they are the same ones on DisneyShopping.com. In fact DisneyShopping.com had a bigger selection as I noticed at least one Disney Store globe that wasn't at the store but is still on the website.
There is one globe there that was new. I guess it is the Disney Store 2007 Christmas globe although it isn't dated. It cost $24.95 which I thought was a little high since it doesn't play music. It has Sorceror Mickey inside the globe with various Disney characters around the base.
They had some nice items but I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more adult stuff & collectibles. They did have a lot of different snowdome cups. They sell 2 for $10. I think the cups would make an interesting collection for someone because of the variety available. They would also make excellent stocking stuffers because of their size. I probably won't be buying them but I did buy one to get my total up to $75 so I could take advantage of their free movie offer. I chose Jungle Book and spent this evening watching it and realized I don't think I've ever seen the whole movie before. I know I've watched it before but there was an awful lot I don't remember ever seeing especially towards the beginning. Perhaps I saw an edited version on tv or something. The digitally restored animation looks fantastic on my new high definition, wide screen tv and I especially enjoyed the bonus features explaining the evolution of the movie with Walt Disney's personal involvement through interviews with the people who had worked on the film. I rarely get through or even watch bonus material on dvd's but I found thiese to be very interesting.

Disney Snowglobe - Mickey's Nightmare

This snowglobe has showed up on the Disney Store section of DisneyShopping.com. This is one of those figurine sculptures with multiple small globes on it. In my opinion, this one would look better without the globes.

Disney Store arrives online

I view quite a few Disney fan sites on a daily basis and I have seen no mention of this anywhere. As you probably know, The Disney Store chain is no longer run by the Disney company. Disney sold the chain to Children's Place and they have been running them and from most accounts doing a pretty good job of it. The old Disney Store website became DisneyShopping.com and the two were complete seperate entities. Now, Disney Store is holding a grand opening to herald their arrival on DisneyShopping.com. It appears that the Disney Store will have its own section on DisneyShopping just like the outlet section is sort of seperate from the rest. At this time they are not showing any new snowglobes on the site.

I wonder what this will mean as far as selection goes? Will It mean a larger selection of merchandise or will it mean less because the different segments don't want to compete? Or will DisneyShopping eventually give way to the Disney Store as the online shopping presence?

Will it mean more snowglobes or less?

Ratatouille update

Another seller has posted the new Ratatouille dome on ebay and the auction information reveals that it is from the Disney Store. I kind of like the old fashioned plastic domes and hope they will continue to do more of them as well as the large deluxe kind.
