Disney introduces more crap

Well, if you've read my comments on Cuties, the Princess items that looked like Bratz, Vinylmation and Mickey Monsters (I mercifully didn't bring up the ugliness that is deebees), then you probably have a good guess on how I feel about these.  I do like these slightly more then all of the above but basically to me it just seems like Disney trying to make a quick buck off of junk.  Looks like something a child might draw while trying to draw their favorite characters and for that reason maybe very small children will like them.  Maybe thats the idea.  These new things are called Pook-A-Looz.  They are 250 dollars for the set of 20.  They are 12" tall and flat.  Individually they sell for 12.50.
On the other hand there are people that are absolutely in love with vinylamtion and deebees so what do I know.

Poor Pluto seems to have his tongue stuck in his collar.  Am I supposed to think that's funny?

Disney Store Figures - a few more

Some folks seem to be confused and think these are Big Figures like are for sale in the theme parks.  These are similar to those in size but were manufactured as display pieces to be used in windows and elsewhere in the Disney Stores and have never been produced for resale.  Clear?

Disney Store Figures Revisited

Looking n ebay I came across all of these great shots of old Disney Store figures.  If I had the money, my house would be filled with these things.  The closest we've got in our house is the set of Snow White garden statues I bought for my mom.

Mike Sullivan, the Disney artist who designed the Mechanical Kingdom steampunk pins will be at Walt Disney World's Pin Traders at the Downtown Disney Marketplace on April 1st.

It's been awhile since we talked about the new Disney steampunk line called Mechanical Kingdom.  It will debut as a set of pins in April with Vinylmation figures to follow.  Don't know if there will be anything else or not.

Disney Dollars are worth what??????

Anybody out there who can explain this collection of Disney Dollars sold for $4,045 dollars on ebay????
Looking at other auctions it appears to have something to do with the bills being in sequence.   My mom gave me some once,  I wonder where they are.

A Lack of Pooh

Just read a post on a discussion board about the lack of Pooh merchandise being put out by Disney.  It's not your imagination, Disney deliberately cut way back on Pooh merchandise during the lawsuit over who owned the rights to the characters and it hasn't returned to its previous levels despite Disney winning.  I would expect that to change however since they have the new movie in development.  Meanwhile, at least you don't collect Donald Duck or Goofy, there has NEVER been enough merchandise with either of them on it.

Seven Dwarf's Cottage Playhouse & More

These new playhouses will be appearing on DisneyStore.com someday soon.  I saw the Mickey's Diner at the D23 expo and it is pretty cool.  They all look pretty cool but I would mention that the Seven Dwarfs cottage doesn't look like the one in the movie.  Still, it's not like that would stop a kid from having fun it it. I wonder if the windows open so they can play the witch scene.  In case you can't read the signage on that last one it is Mowgli's hut.

Darkwing Duck Returns

Darkwing Duck returns this June in a 4 issue mini series from Boom Studios.  From an interview with the author:
“Drake Mallard has given up being Darkwing to get a job in a cubicle. He and Launchpad are not speaking to each other. Gosalyn’s in a school that’s suffocating her. There are lots of external adversaries that challenge this new status quo and reminds our three heroes how important they are to each other.

“There are a ton of villains in these four issues, too. Darkwing has such a great rogue's gallery, I couldn’t pick just one. By the time you get to the end of the first issue you'll see four, and then there are only going to be more as the series progresses. All the villains’ lives have been changed, too. There have been big changes in St. Canard and everyone’s dealing with them in their own way. This series has the familiar characters you want but given new situations that we hope gives a sense of vitality to the stories.”

I reccomend Disney Comics Future blog for info on current and upcoming releases in Disney comics.  Mostly because I write that one too.

The Magic Kingdom of my childhood

Someone found an old home movie of Walt Disney World in 1975 and graciously put it on the internet for everyone to share. There is no sound but its well worth watching.  The America on Parade video reminded me of parts of the parade I had completely forgotten about.  If, like me, you were wondering who the neon colored bears are, they are not bears but Scat Cats gang from The Aristocats.
