Help! Mickey has the Mumps!

Our friend Sergio in Brazil writes in for help figuring out what the heck is happening to his snowglobes. Bubbles are forming in the paint of the figures inside the globes. The globes are not near heat or direct sunlight. Anyone else have these kind of problems? Any theories on what has caused it?

To me it looks like the Princess globes have manufacturing flaws where the paint perhaps wasn't allowed to cure long enough before water was added. But I'm just guessing.
And what about poor Mickey? He's gone from having nice dreams to looking like he's in bed with some terrible disease. One of the chapters in my book will be about the proper care of snowglobes so I would be very interested in learning what has caused these problems. Please leave a comment with any theory you might have. Thanks.

Everything old is new again

DisneyShopping.com has added 3 more to their selection of Disney snowglobes.

The first is this Sleeping Beauty snowglobe that was available in the Disney Catalog from 1997 to 2000. It appears to be exactly the same globe with only one change...the price! The original release was priced at $95 and the current release is 79.50.

Behind door number 2 is our pal Pooh Bear. This globe has been available on the Enesco site for a few weeks and it states there that it was first released in 2006. Now you can buy it on DisneyShopping as well. It costs $45 on both sites. Oh and its made out of porcelain which is kind of rare but not unheard of.

Last but not least are the Classics vs New animated feature bookends that have been available at the Disney Stores. I'm not sure when these first came out and they were not at my local Disney Store when I went a few weeks ago but they have been regularly appearing on ebay for months. They cost 99.50 for the set. Not sure if Disney Store sells them as a set or individually. I've seen them both ways on ebay.

Disneyland Paris snowglobes

I was wondering what to post today and came across this wonderful set of globes while going through the closed auctions on ebay. They are from Disneyland Paris and represent floats from the 15th anniversay parade. I've come across a couple of these prior to this but didn't realize they were part of a set from the Paris theme park.

If anyone has these or has seen them in person, I would appreciate any information you would care to share. I especially need to know if they have any backstamps or plaques or signage identifying them as being from Disneyland Paris.

I've added some vids of the actual parade to the Mouskavision sidebar. These floats are incredible.

Mickey Mouse battles Nazi's

One of my all time favorite forms of entertainment are comic books. Especially Disney comics and super especially Disney comics done well. The 3 american masters of the Disney comic are Carl Barks, Don Rosa and Floyd Gottfredson. Mr Gottfredson didn't work in comic books although his Mickey Mouse comic strips have been reprinted in quite a few. There are many old Mickey Mouse strips that Disney will not allow to be published for one reason or another in today's way too politically correct world. Click this link to go to a wonderful site that will allow you to read some of those comic strips including some where Mickey and Pluto battle nazi's.

Book Entry - Mickey Mouse Club

And so I present a sample entry from my book in progress.
Picture from The Disney Catalog.
Mickey wears his costumes from each day of the show atop this pair of mouse ears. Donald is ready to strike the gong on the back.
Lights: Mickey Mouse Club logo.
Music: “Mickey Mouse March”
Size: 7 ½”H.
Source: Disney Catalog.
ORP: 78.50 (2002)

All the information listed here is taken from The Disney Catalog. I need to add to the listing what type of snow is in the globes and the final book will have pricing information telling a price range that has been realized on ebay. For example the period of time that I tracked it for in 2007 saw it sell in the 49.34-71.00 range with those two prices being the actual lowest and highest prices sold.

This is one of my faavorite snowglobes of all time and I'm surprised the ebay prices haven't been higher then that.
