Backstage in Tomorrowland
The stage in Tomorrowland is now a big pile of rubble. I asked a manager walking past if he knew what would be done with the space and he said that they are telling everyone that it will be additional parking for the backstage area. This is what was said in a recent Jim Hill article as well. He then added "but that's not true" and indicated it will probably be used temporarily for parking and then he walked away.
I have no idea if he knows or if he just has similar thoughts to mine. The hourly employees seem to think that it had to be torn down because it was so old and termite infested but they just got done performing the Christmas show and I was up inside the back of the stage in the fall and it seemed fine to me.
Another area in Tomorrowland is also under construction of some sort. The open area where they normally set up the temporary stage that they sometimes use and where the High School Musical show was originally performed before it moved to the Studios is also all walled up and it includes the area between Carousel of Progress and the old Skyway building. The bathrooms on the bottom floor are still open but most of the 2nd floor is also covered up.
All this plus the fact that Space Mountain is going down in April and will stay down until november or so leads to all kinds of wild speculation.
One fact I do know that was announced in the Eyes and Ears is that there is some kind of stage show going into Tomorrowland that will feature an interactive Stitch on a big screen.

At last! A Disney Star Wars Snowglobe
Remember me saying I wanted them to do a Disney-Star Wars globe? This showed up on a couple different ebay auctions this week. Guess I'll have to try and make a trip to the studios sometime soon. Emperor Stitch is on the back.

The Claw!
My favorite scene from Toy Story is recreated in this new deluxe mini snowglobe from DisneyShopping.com.
Back in Action
Well my computer restore is done. Things went smoothly and it is running better then it has in quite some time. There was an article today in the paper about the worm that infected it and it appears to be very widespread and dangerous. If you use a search engine and it wont take you to where you want to go, you need to take steps to get rid of it. Especially if you have personal information on your computer. If you use AVG and it is not updating and appears there is something wrong with the program, it is not AVG, it is the worm blocking you from accessing it.

terrorists have hijacked my computer
Well, looks like I'll be inactive for a few days while I combat a hijacker program on my computer. This is a strange one because it allows me to still function and go where I want on the internet if I know where I am going but if I use a search engine it hijacks me to somewhere other then where I wanted to go. It has also shut down my avg program, I cant reset to an earlier time and basically won't allow me to do anything that might enable me to get rid of it. The only choice seems to be to try to reset the computer back to its original settings and lose all my files and work in the progress.
But since the computer still functions I can put all that on discs before the restore but because I have so much it is going to take a couple days before I can actually do the reset. I guess its time to buy an external hard drive so I wont take the chance of losing all my information including the snowglobe stuff.
Didn't think I needed to do that because absolutely nothing has ever gotten through avg before but some of my friends have been having problems lately too with avg shutting down and then viruses getting in.
The collectors guide has posts scheduled for several days so you wont see any difference there, just letting you know in case I become unavailable for a little while.

Time flies
Yipes! Has it really been 5 days since I posted here? Time sure flies when your working hard. I promise to try and do better. Here's a picture of the recent marathon held at Walt Disney World as taken from the monorail. When I start work each morning, I start at Contemporary and then have to go to Magic Kingdom but I couldn't get in the Magic Kingdom with my normal backstage access because they run the race through those areas and we dont get access back until later in the day after the park opens. My duties have to be performed before the park opens and so I got to take the monorail back and forth that weekend. Yeah, I could have walked but how often do you get the chance to ride a Walt Disney World monorail to work?

Hey Kids! Comics!
As I've mentioned before, Boom Studios will be publishing a line of Disney comic books beginning in a few months. Here are the first issue covers to their first 3 series. For those of you not into comic books I should explain that is now a somewhat common practive for publishers to issue multiple covers for the same comic. The 4 Incredibles covers fit together to form 1 picture but the contents of each one are the same. Yes I know it's stupid but it apparently works or they wouldn't continue to do it.

New Mickey's Philharmagic Snowglobe
Sorry for the lousy pic but there wasn't one on display and I had to settle for a photo of the box. As far as I know this is the 3rd snowglobe for Mickey's Philharmagic. Interesting that this attraction that has only been open for a few short years allready has had more snowglobes then most of the other attractions. All have featured Donald which proves once again how popular a character he is. I have no idea why Disney doesn't use him more. $16.95 seems a bit much for a small snowglobe.

Fill in the Blanks
Hi! Sorry for the lack of posts on this blog. Work is a bit hectic as we recover from the holiday crowds and I avoid the parks during the holidays because of the crowds. That should start to change this week and I'll have the opportunity to take some pics.
Meanwhile, I hope your enjoying whats going on at the Collectors Guide. I've managed to be posting at least 5 globes a day since the January 1st explosion of 50 globes and I think that's doing pretty well.
As you go through the Collectors Guide, if you see a snowglobe you actually own, please take a moment to verify the information. We all want the info to be as correct as possible and some of it comes from ebay which may not be the most reliable source for sizes and so forth. A lot of the entries have empty spots for type of snow. We also need back views on almost everything and side views if it is a snowglobe that is intricate enough to warrant it. Eventually we will be needing some front views as well since I have lots and lots of pics that are crappy ones from ebay but it is the only pic I have available.
All help and comments are welcomed and appreciated. We should have over 500 globes documented in the Collectors Guide by the end of the month and that's only beginning to scratch the surface. It's very gratifying to see all this hard work in a format that people can use.

17 New Disney Snowglobes from Westland Giftware
Westland Giftware starts the new year off with a whopping 17 new Disney snowglobes. Pics are taken from their website but unfortunately that's pretty much all the detail they provide. The Princess series appears to have had the most thought put into it.
