No News

I've got nothing new about snowglobes to post today so I thought I'd mention that all of the globes I showed in the last 2 posts, I have placed on ebay and they will end Sunday. Here is a link to the Tigger easter globe and you can click on the sellers other auctions tab to view the others if you are interested.

And just so this post is not just a shameless auction plug. Here's a couple of links to sellers of old collectibles including Disney.

World's Cheapest Disney Snowglobes

Found these at Walgreens also. At a $1.99 each, I think it's safe to say they are the world's cheapest Disney snowglobes. There is a fourth one of Lightning McQueen but I was unable to find one in the 25-30 on display that didn't have a huge air bubble. Most were almost half empty and many were completely empty. These three characters globes were in much better shape but many of them also had large bubbles and some of the figures inside were broken. After getting them home I discovered that they do have a small plug on the bottom so they can be refilled.

The tags call this design a Disney Roly Poly Plastic Waterball.

The figures inside are similar to the ones inside the snowglobe sipper cups and are purposely floating loose inside the globes. The glitter color is themed to the character.

Speaking of the sipper cups, Walgreens has them too. $3.99. Walt Disney World wants $7.99 for theirs. Disney Store wants $5.99 for theirs. I didn't see any new designs at Walgreens. I had seen those designs on ebay and thought they came from the Disney Store.

Disney Easter Snowglobes

My search for new Easter globes led me to stop at a Disney area Walgreens on the way home from work today. I found these 4 glitter-filled mini globes. I especially like the unusual Tigger pose and Mickey's wardrobe is interesting. I didn't realize he owned shorts in other colors then red.

A Picture of a Box

Finally thought to take a picture of the new box pattern being used at Walt Disney World. Looks like most of the new snowglobes, picture frames, cookie jars etc that come in boxes are being packaged in this pattern. In future years it could be a valuable clue as to when a collectible was produced.

Bambi Returns

The Bambi Easter globe has finally showed up on the Disney Store UK site. As expected, it is not actually an Easter globe, just a spring globe with Bambi and Thumper.

Also this globe has not been seen for a few months at Walt Disney World but is now reappearing on the shelves.

Question

Anyone been to Wal-Mart lately? I'm guessing they've put out the Easter stuff now that Valentine's is over. Are the Easter egg shaped gemmy globes available yet?

Top Ten Update

It's been awhile since we've had anything make the Top Ten list. The uniqueness and quality of the hourglass series has finally earned one a top ten spot. Cinderella debuts in the top ten at #8. Kicking Lilo & Stitch off the list.

Rare Snowglobes?

Occasionally, as I work my way through my collection of Disney Catalogs, I find a globe that I haven't seen on ebay. Usually it is a very special globe and I can understand why nobody wants to part with it. So, imagine my surprise when I found 3 globes in the same catalog that I have not seen on ebay. The Mickey and Minnie one with the orphans is especially grand. They are from 2003 and so aren't all that old. Are they rare? Or do people simply not want to part with them? In either case, the fact that they come up for sale rarely should drive their value when one does become available.

Recreated Globes on DisneyShopping

Some more globes that were originally created years ago have found their way to DisneyShopping.com. I recognize all of these as being old globes except for the Donald Duck one so that one may be new.

Eeyore & Roo snowglobe

This globe is on the Disney Store UK website. Eeyore is helping Roo cross the stream without getting wet.

The Bambi/Thumper easter globe that was listed on their website with no picture has been taken down and has not reappeared so far. They never did put up a picture for it.

Fantasia Snowglobe

The new Fantasia globe that retails for 79.50 has had its first sale on ebay for 192.45. That total includes a 14.95 shipping fee. I will never understand why people waste their money like this when all they have to do is go to a different website.

What's Next?

Now that we finally have a snowglobe for the film Enchanted, it makes me wonder what will be the next. Prince Caspian? Wall-E? Bolt? There have been a couple of snowglobes for the first Narnia movie, so Prince Caspian may get one.

101 Dalmations on Disney UK

Somehow I missed the fact that this globe that showed up in our sneak peeks has appeared on the Disney UK site. It has a blower and plays "Cruella De Vil" I wonder how long it will be before it shows up on the US site.

New Disney Store USA Snowglobes

Seven new Disney Snowglobes from The Disney Store USA debuted on DisneyShopping.com today. Most of them are allready on sale but the site says the up to 70% off sale ends tonight! That may or may not be true based on past experience. Anyway, the new globes feature the first Enchanted snowglobe and an Oliver and Company snowglobe which as far as I know is also a first. A nice selection. I'd have to say the Fantasia one is my favorite based on just the pictures.

Disney Animal Kingdom Snowglobe

Ended up cutting my visit to Animal Kingdom short but not before I found this globe. I did see this globe on ebay in 2007 so I guess it isn't a new design but I hadn't seen it at the park since I've been watching so this is probably a new shipment. It is a mini globe a little over a couple of inches tall, has glitter and shows Mickey driving a jeep while glancing at the bird flying along on top of the globe. It costs $12.

Taking a Break

My mind is focused on other things today and can't really come up with anything to post about. I plan on going to Animal Kingdom tomorrow. With a little luck maybe I'll find a new globe.

New guidebook for Mickey Mouse collectors

Gemstone Publishing has announced plans to do a book for Random House on Mickey Mouse collectibles which will be similar to their annual Disney Collectibles guide. I purchased the first guidebook that they did but not the 2nd because I was disappointed with the concept. Focusing on one subject, in this case Mickey Mouse, does away with much of my objections because it should alloy for a much more comprehensive look at a particular subject. In fact, my thinking along those lines, is what inspired me to work on my current snowglobe book. Hopefully the Mickey Mouse book will do well enough so they can continue with an assortment of books like one for each animated film, one for Donald Duck, one for Goofy and so on. I'd love that.

Movement: teacup spins.
Music: Donald Duck theme song.

This is the latest entry added to my book manuscript. Should it be listed under Donald Duck or Teacups?

DisneyShopping.com - New Globes

DisneyShopping.com has added 15 new globes to their selection. Most are recreations of past globes. I wonder if there is anyway to tell the difference between the old and the new ones. A few are the sipper tumblers from the Disney Store. The last 2 pictures are 2 different sides of the same globe.
